A while back, we reported on a fairly ludicrous Sony patent that seemed to suggest there was a add-on in the offing that would allow you to attach your PS2 DualShock controller to your PSP. Scroll through the image gallery to see what it looked like.

Why anybody would want to do such a thing was beyond us, of course. The extra analogue stick is all very well, but it would be a determined PSP player who chose to cart both the console and a separate controller around with him. Sony apparently felt the same, because no such device has hit the shelves.

Now, reports PSP Fanboy, modder Blizzrad has saved Sony the trouble. He or she has fixed it so that a modified DualShock controller can interface with the PSP through the 25-pin socket on the right-hand side of the console.

When connected, the controller's right analogue stick is mapped to the face buttons, and L2 and R2 are mapped to the Left and Right buttons on the D-pad. R3, meanwhile, performs the function of the Home button. Everything else is self-explanatory.

Want one? Me neither. It's an interesting exercise, though. Check out the video below to see how it works.
