Who knows, maybe even for the DS or PSP

Visionary science fiction writer Phillip K. Dick may have had a deeply unfortunate name, but that didn't stop him from writing some of the most intriguing and influential stories of the 20th Century, including Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (which became the movie Blade Runner), We Can Remember it for you Wholesale (Total Recall), and A Scanner Darkly (A Scanner Darkly.)

Now, reports Destructoid, The Halcyon Company has obtained the rights to Dick's work, and plans to make, among other things, two video games.

There have already been games of at least the films of the books, including a rather good PC adventure based on Blade Runner, and a miserable cross-platform conversion of Minority Report, but by and large Dick's library has sat unmined.

No details about what the games will be like have so far emerged, nor what platform they'll be on, but given the adventure-friendly nature of both novel conversions and the DS it's not unreasonable to expect a DS port.

One might raise some scepticism about whether Dick's work should be mined, of course, particularly by a company with no proven track record in video games, but we live in hope.
