Metal Gear Solid coming to N-Gage

More than one Snake on Nokia's games platform

Metal Gear Solid coming to N-Gage

Konami has signed up for N-Gage, and its first game for Nokia's platform will be something of a humdinger.

Metal Gear Solid Mobile is coming to N-Gage. It's not a huge surprise, given that it was developed by Ideaworks3D, which is also one of Nokia's key first-party N-Gage developers.

The game has already scooped industry awards for its BREW incarnation, so the N-Gage version looks set to be the first time us European gamers can get our thumbs on it.

We're particularly looking forward to the feature where you use your phone's camera to snap colour samples for the in-game camouflage system, since it'll be one of the first examples of an N-Gage game using the camera.

"I believe that this co-operation between Nokia and Konami will form the perfect match to share the vast potential of mobile entertainment content with users all around the world," says Metal Gear guru Hideo Kojima.

One interesting question is how Metal Gear Solid Mobile will be adapted for Nokia's N-Gage Arena community. Point Pickups will be a given, but could there be some form of online rankings too?

Time will tell. We're itching for a hands-on preview, so click 'Track It!' for an alert when we secure one.
