Is the game in the shop worth more than a pre-order elsewhere?

DS + PSP

It's not often the internet provides a nice surprise. There are often surprises, some even fascinating when you forget to check the SafeSearch box, but nice surprises are few and far between. So well done to Play.com for redesigning its website interface. We've always generally preferred it to GAME's (all that purple, all that purple) and that's even more the case now given its new, less cluttered look.

Still, it doesn't seem to change the rivalry between the two when it comes to release dates. Frankly, considering the amount of pre-orders we've ended up cancelling recently we sometimes think they just make them up.

There are a couple of good examples this week, with GAME listing Ferrari Challenge and Mary Kings Riding School as being released on May 30th, while Play suggesting a June 20th release date for both instead. The phase is reversed in the case of Hannah Montana: Music Jam, however, with Play going for an early May 30th versus GAME's June 13th.

You pays your money and waits for the answer.

At least there are plenty of DS games available. Indeed, puzzler Fizz (definitely coming out on May 23rd, we've heard) is a real cheapo at £9.99. Let's hope it plays better than its price suggests.

But that's all DS land, of course. Alas, when it comes to PSP the cupboard, once again, remains bare.
