Console royalty NES goes portable

Handheld NES anyone?

Console royalty NES goes portable

Almost every console ever made has had a portable makeover at some point, either by a gifted modder or by an obscure toy company looking to make a quick buck. Owing to cadillac-sized cartridges, the NES is one console that has not been privy to portable gaming, until now.

The snappily titled FC Portable Mobile system for Nintendo NES is a fully functioning portable device, compatible with original NES carts. Powered by three AA batteries, the device has a 2.4-inch LCD screen and can also be plugged straight into your TV with an included AV cable. Though it does look a little ungainly with those massive carts sticking out the back, this is about as portable as the NES is ever likely to get.

As you can probably tell, it's a bit of a slow news day, but if you own a massive collection of NES games and have a spare $40-60 kicking about (or £20-30), which is how much these cost on eBay, then this could make for a decent rainy day purchase.
