Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant announced for DS and PSP

Co-op mode and 'mutants in your pocket' planned

Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant announced for DS and PSP

Vivendi has just released first information on its new Crash Bandicoot game and confirmed it'll be coming to both DS and PSP this autumn.

The game - which will also come out on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii - features a rejuvenated Neo Cortex who's intent on taking over the world one brain at a time using a 'text-messaging, do-anything' device which can control mutant and bandicoot minds. Of course, this means Crash - along with his new playable sidekick sister Coco - must try to stop him.

Among Crash's new abilities is a roll and counter combat system, which should make for a more deep combat experience, and the ability to climb vertical surfaces. Apparently he can dig now too - a skill that real-life bandicoots have that was somehow originally overlooked by his makers, who decided to make him spin round and round very fast instead. Something which real bandicoots don't do.

Like in previous game Crash of the Titans, Crash can control enemies he's 'jacked and use their abilities, but now he can also store favourites in his pocket instead of leaving them behind when he gets a new one, and they're upgradable too.

Wumpa Island will be a free roaming environment full of intersecting worlds and, as mentioned earlier, you'll also be able to play for the first time as Crash's sister Coco who brings with her a new tactile 'treasure hunt' ability, although we're not sure exactly what that is.

It just wouldn't be right not to have a new Crash game for 2008. Now we just need the official Spyro announcement and we'll feel complete again. And look what's just turned up - an announcement for that too. Quelle surprise.
