LG Secret handset offers motion-sensing games

M-Toy wants a bit of the Wii wavey action

LG Secret handset offers motion-sensing games

Handset geeks are getting pretty excited about the LG Secret and for good reason. It's LG's brand new phone (its more boring name is the LG-KF750) and was unveiled this morning.

The wannabe iPhone-killer comes with a five-megapixel camera, a 2.4-inch touchscreen with QVGA resolution, and some truly swizzy photography, video and music features.

But that's not why we're excited. See, the Secret also has a motion sensor inside, enabling games where you swing, shake and tilt the handset to control the action.

LG is calling the technology M-Toy, and the phone will come with several preloaded if generic titles: Dart, Magic Ball, Maze, Homerun Derby, Hammer, and Fishing.

Hopefully, they'll be letting mobile games developers and publishers access the sensor too. It's not the first phone with an accelerometer in the West by any means - Sony Ericsson has a couple, as does Nokia.

On the one hand, LG adding this feature to a phone means there will be more motion-enabled handsets out there, making it more commercially worthwhile for developers to make such games.

Of course, if every handset maker is using a different tilt technology that might not hold true. But rest assured, we'll be getting onto our developer contacts to see what they make of the Secret.
