Sega polishes the Iron Man
The next eight days in handheld games
Prepare to meet Anthony Edward Stark. Or as you'll get to know him, Robert Downey Jr in a metal suit. Yep, it's the summer blockbuster season come early and in step with the release of Marvel's Iron Man film comes Sega's DS and PSP game versions (although the PSP version isn't out until May 9th).
To be honest, we're not particular fans of the superhero film genre - never as good as the original comics dontchaknow - but with Swingers' Jon Favreau in the director's chair and the choice of Downey - because he can portray a 'likable asshole' - we could be won over this time, even with Gwyneth Paltrow as love interest, Virginia 'Pepper' Potts.
As for the games, Sega's got resistance to overcome though, given that its last tie-in attempt was the risible The Golden Compass, which failed on DS and PSP.
Still, with little interest generated by any of the other releases during the next eight days - unless you're under the age of ten, My Puppy Shop please!- it looks like it's Downey or bust when it comes to pocket gaming. Let's hope neither he or Sega is too rusty.
