The questions on quiz shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire can get a bit dry. Frankly, who can be bothered to remember the order monarchs came to the British throne or learn the days of the week in Latin? We're sure we could come up with more interesting questions than that.

And now we're going to get the chance because Rising Star has announced it will be publishing the game LOL (details for which popped up a month or so back) in the UK. But it's doing it under the new title Bakushow (which we're not entirely sure is a good name change or a bad one but 'bakushow' apparently translates as 'big laugh' in Japanese).

Bakushow works by having the host proposing a question or puzzle and the other players sending their answers to them within a time limit via their DSs. The answers are then revealed to all players who vote on the worthiest winner. We don't expect Jeremy Paxman would approve as it all sounds a bit trivial but, heck, it could just be fun. Imagine that, Paxman.

Questions can apparently vary, from general knowledge to memory style affairs – so anything from, 'What does a Scottish terrier look like?' to more imaginative challenges where you ask everyone to draw something. The game's copy tool means the host can draw then send their question and it literally could be anything. There's nothing stopping them from doodling down a half-completed sudoku puzzle for players to finish or compose multiple choice questions. It's up to their imagination.

It's playable for up to four people using just one copy of the game and will support wireless play (but not online). There's no single-player mode at all either, which may sound weird (and is potentially a little worrying) but it's purely a game for those who have friends or family with multiple DSs, who fancy getting together for a spot of good clean quiz game fun.

Well, assuming you make your questions and answers clean – who's going to do that for long?

Anyway, Bakushow is due for release in the UK on July 4th and is to be sold at the bargain price of £19.99.
