Super Breakout set to smash onto mobile
Atari classic is coming to a phone near you
You can't beat a game that features bats, balls and blocks. Yet until someone releases the Henry VIII-themed cricket game we've been dreaming of (where the batsmen get beheaded after getting out), we'll have to make do with Breakout clones instead.
Glu's new game certainly has the heritage. Super Breakout is based on the original Atari arcade machine of the same name. If you're old enough to have spent your youth pumping coins into the original, you'll love it.
But our worry is that plain old Super Breakout would look rather dated next to more recent games that have nicked its core gameplay but added shedloads of features. Like Gameloft's new Block Breaker Deluxe 2, for example.
However, Glu has an answer to that. Super Breakout will have a new 'Evolved' adventure mode with beefed-up graphics and sound, plus all manner of exclusive weapons, power-ups, brick types, and unlockable levels.
Oh, and there's cheats. We don't see enough mobile games with cheat modes built in, so good on Glu for putting that in.
