Naval Battle: Mission Commander comes to iPod

Naval Battle: Mission Commander is one of our all-time favourite mobile games. It might be basically a souped-up Battleships, but the souping up has been done with considerable aplomb.

Anyway, it's now available for iPod, which is obviously good news. It offers five game modes, including a Campaign mode with 18 missions, and you get to control eight different ships, each with their own features and characters.

Meanwhile, the animation is top-notch, as you see planes roaring in for a bombing run, and rockets being launched in neat cut-scenes.

The iPod version also includes a multiplayer mode – presumably by passing your digital media player back and forth. The game's available now on iTunes for £3.99.
