Flower, Sun, and Rain on DS coming to UK from maker of Killer7

Japanese developer Grasshopper got noticed by gamers with home console games Killer7 and, most recently, No More Heroes. Both are alluring, stylised and very original concepts.

But another of its recent projects, the intriguingly titled DS game Flower, Sun and Rain: Unending Paradise has now been confirmed for released in the UK. That's according to games™ magazine, which has reported Rising Star will publish the game here.

The game has actually already been released in Japan (called Hana to Taiyo to Ame to) on PlayStation 2. Unending Paradise is an enhanced remake for DS due for release there on March 6th, and in the US shortly after.

It stars a character called Sumio who makes a living searching for people's lost things. He's tasked with finding and defusing a time bomb planted on a plane soon to take off but on his way to the airport to intervene he's distracted by various people and incidents and the plane explodes.

Life's harsh sometimes.

However, the next morning he wakes up in his hotel room and discovers the aeroplane hasn't taken off and the explosion hasn't happened. He sets off again but is side-tracked by different people and fails to get there in time again. You can probably see where this is going: poor Sumio is stuck reliving the same day over and over again, presumably until he either gets it right or goes completely nuts.

The game is described as a mystery adventure and the DS version adds 50 new missions to those in the PS2 game. Other changes for handheld include controlling Catherine, a computer your character uses in several ways, with the stylus.

This aside, a lot of the gameplay is about as mysterious as the game's plot but we hope to find out more when it's released in Japan. Grasshopper's most well known DS game to date, Contact, was interesting and kooky, just a little lacking in thrills. But it's a developer certainly worth watching and it's one of the reasons we'll be keeping an eye on Flower, Sun and Rain.
