Gamers will soon be able to access the PlayStation Store directly from their PSPs, instead of through a PS3 or PC.

Chris Eden, Sony of America's senior developer relations account manager, made the announcement at his session at GDC.

Users will be able to access the native PlayStation Store on PSP via a wireless hotspot and purchase and download content directly to their systems without the need to use a USB cable plugged into another machine.

It's currently unannounced when the service will actually be available, but at least an end is nigh for having to transfer content from one system to another. There was, sadly, no news on plans to tie in any sort of expansion to the store to offer more game downloads or increase the number of demos, for instance.

Still, one step at a time, eh?
