Loose Threads: Is the Gizmondo doomed to fail a second time?
|

As our forum becomes ever more populated with all of you shiny happy people, the topics of discussion are becoming ever more mixed, illustrating the broad range of expertise and insight possessed by you all. Well, nearly all of you. (We joke.)

But enough flattery because you are still far from perfect. Take our most recent topic for example – 'Is the Gizmondo doomed to fail a second time?' – which no one responded to. (Mandark, in fairness, did post something last minute and he therefore gets a gold star.) You lazy lot.

Or are you? We're simply going to assume your silence is a response in itself, leave at that and take the rest of this feature's wordcount to draw your attention to various new and exciting developments going on in the forum.

First, some of you may remember a request icarus_kid made a few weeks back concerning Beats:

"Has anyone played this? It's been out for a while but I couldn't find a review on PG."

Well, you'll sleep soundly tonight icarus_kid, because the review can be found here and is set to be followed in the coming weeks with comprehensive coverage of every game that appears on the PSP Store, including all of the PS1 emulation titles.

Because you can't have happiness without pain, we follow the above good news with an apology. In our eagerness to make life easier for all of you looking for handheld gaming help, we have somehow managed to let our very busy Pokémon thread slip through the cracks and disappear into the wastes of the internet like so much digital vapor in the wind.

We're obviously sorry, Pokéfans, and if any of you are taking five minutes off from catching 'em all to read this, we'd love you to start a fresh Pokémon thread in our new Help! section.

Speaking of which, hot on the heals of our new Help! section is our new Freebie section, where you'll soon find links to swathes of top quality free mobile titles courtesy of Mobile Rated. There will be more about that in this week's forthcoming Friday Freebie but in the meantime we'll point you in the direction of a thread we've started in the section where you can all post links to any cost-free gaming gems you've come across on your digital travels.

Word of warning, though. This is not a carte blanche to go SPAM crazy, people, and if we feel individuals are shamelessly plugging their wares, we won't hesitate pull our plug on your profile (see what we did there?). But don't worry, we're a tolerant lot and as long as everyone's posts are relevant to pocket gaming there won't be a problem.

Dependable regular Hidden Away has helpfully kicked things off with a perfect example of the sort of thing we're looking for:

"Spotted it this morning. The PSP Demo Center has a Japanese downloadable demo of Space Invaders Extreme. Not tried it yet :p."

With that housekeeping out of the way, all there is left to do today is introduce next week's topic of discussion:

Will Sony or Nintendo introduce branded gaming phones?

More details can be found in the usual place (hint: click here).

That's it for now Pocket Gamers. Click 'Track It!' to be sure not to miss next week's Loose Threads.
