Drone Tactics DS screenshots swarm our way, along with a US release date
The latest on this giant spider mechs fest
US publisher Atlus has confirmed its upcoming DS mech strategy RPG Drone Tactics will be released in the US on April 8th.
The game puts you in charge of building a customisable army of mechanical insects – the kind that can take control of over 100 different upgradable weapons and power-ups. By building up and commanding your own Drone army, you can fend off the Black Swarm (an army of evil drones threatening to obliterate the land of Cimexus, in case you were wondering).
Customisation options don't end with your choices of weaponry as you're also able to alter the look of your drones with different paint jobs and emblems (even those you've drawn yourself using the DS stylus).
Meanwhile, the game's RPG elements seem to come into play with the levelling up of drones and collecting of various ability cards and new battle techniques.
Dozens of campaign operations and over 50 maps are promised – the game doesn't actually end with the defeating of the Black Swarm and continues with challenges in the 'mysterious Badlands'.
Multiplayer is supported in the shape of head-to-head combat, where you can battle for domination against a friend over local wireless play.
You'll find the official website here. We're hoping a UK release announcement might follow this one and we'll keep you posted if Drone Tactics does creep spider-like over to our side of the Atlantic.
