O2 mobile game download charts and new releases: December 21st

We are less than a week away from that day that everyone won't shut-up about around this time of the year and so just for a breath of fresh air. We're not going to rely on any lazy Christmas angles for the intro to this week's O2 download chart. Bah, Humbug etc.

So, as always, let's kick off with a mixed bag of newbies. There's The Sims DJ which will probably be followed soon by The Sims Ukulele, The Sims Stamp Collecting and then hopefully The Sims Group Therapy (oh how we kid).

The humble Slinky is the latest toy to get the Java treatment while a generous sprinkling of ports (Brain Coach), licensed mini-game mash-ups (Star Wars) and yearly franchise updates (Phil Taylor Darts 08, WWE Smackdown VS. Raw 08 and Championship Manager 08) make up the remainder of this week's new releases.

The chart has seen quite a bit of movement since last week with Catchphrase's tenure at the top proving to be something of a flash in the pan. Similarly, High School Musical has been replaced with sweaty entertainers of a different kind in WWE Smackdown VS. Raw 08 and the cues of World Snooker Championship have been replaced by the wands of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Everything else has just had a good old shuffle about.

And so we find ourselves painted into a corner on the Christmas issue as it is time to announce the official festive number one. So who took the Yule top spot? A man that if he put on a few pounds could probably do a convincing Father Christmas impression. Yes you guessed it, it's Noel Edmonds and Deal or No Deal.
