Following the success of tie-in games such as Finding Nemo, Cars and Ratatouille, THQ is continuing its longterm licensing deal with Pixar (and Disney) with the summer release of a game based on the $120 million budget animation WALL-E. Nine versions of the game are being worked on, including DS, PSP and mobile.

The action follows the lonely existence of WALL-E, the last robot left on Earth. Programmed to clean up after humans have fled the planet following the runaway problems of rampant consumerism, the little fella's the only survivor of the operation. So when EVE, a robot probe, is sent to Earth to check up what's going on, he immediately falls in love with her. Or as director Andrew Stanton puts it; "it's going to take a robot's love to help make the world go round."

Quite how THQ expects to package that little nugget within a game for tweens remains to be seen. What it has announced however is the game will let you take control of WALL-E and EVE across 10 environments. Missions will involve navigating around the futuristic world and dodging dangerous enemies. THQ also says that while the plot, characters and key locations are all taken from the film, there will be new storylines and environments created especially for the game. Still, some of the film's key moments will be playable, and there will be head-to-head multiplayer challenges too.

WALL-E, the film, is scheduled for release on July 18th in the UK and July 27th in the US. The game is expected to be released simultaneously.
