Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle DS video comes out of its shell

A video has been released of Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle, a DS game currently in development with the creator of the series on PC, Pendulo Studios.

The footage shows the brightly coloured, jungle-based point-and-click adventure in action on the DS dual screens and explains a little about how it'll all work. From it we can see environments can be explored at depth using the stylus and areas can be zoomed in on, so you can have a proper poke around. An integrated help system will help players with some of the game's renowned tougher puzzles.

As in the PC game, you take control of the hapless Brian Basco (and ladyfriend Gina) and talk to various colourful characters throughout your quest, which takes you to a variety of countries around the world. The developer has squeezed over an hour of sequences into the game, which it says are easily on par in quality terms with an animated film.

Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle is currently scheduled for a spring 2008 release in the US, but we'll keep you posted when there's news of a UK date.
