It's looking pucker, as Jamie Oliver would say. (We'll leave Gordon Ramsay's words to your imagination.)

505 Games has today revealed more on its upcoming sequel to Cooking Mama, and has taken the opportunity to release new screenshots of all the culinary action.

Along with twice the number of cook-related mini-games offered in the original, Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends features 80 international recipes, as well as the option to create your own custom dishes. Your ability, or lack of, is visibly reflected in the presentation of your final dish. Essentially, if it looks like grey stodge, you've gone wrong somewhere.

Also new is being able to offer your finished creation to a range of characters (the 'friends' referred to in the title) to taste and judge. Think of them as the culinary equivalents of Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue. Obviously disciplinarian Mama herself is still on hand to make her own comments, too. And Cowell's got nothing on her.

A personal diary is also built into the game, into which you can save pictures of the dishes you're most proud of, place awarded stickers and make notes.

The best news of all though, is that Cooking Mama 2 will have a multiplayer mode where up to four players can engage in competitive mini-games and cook-offs. Full support of DS Download means you only need one copy of the game, too.

The original title was a bit of a lukewarm dish but with these improvements the sequel could be a Michelin star winner yet. Cooking Mama 2 is scheduled for release in early 2008, so set the egg timer now.
