Geometry Wars: Galaxies DS gets official UK release date

We'd been expecting to get it before Christmas, but Sierra Entertainment has announced the release for Geometry Wars: Galaxies in the UK will be January 18th.

The publisher has used the date press release to remind us why the game is worth waiting for, though: 60 planets make it 60 times bigger than previous Xbox Live Arcade title Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, and a sidekick battle drone promises even more explosive shooting.

Also, for the first time, Galaxies lets players battle in multiplayer mode. And if you have a Wii as well as a DS, the two can be linked up to unlock bonus levels (a free version of Retro Evolved can be downloaded via the Wii, too).

Currently it's looking like the US will be lucky enough to get the game this year – it's down for a November 27th release date there. So there's always the import option if you just can't wait.
