If we were in charge of making a mobile game based on Russell Crowe, it'd have to be Russ Crowe's Telephone Frenzy. Although our lawyers might have something to say about the subject matter.

Gameloft has taken the more legally sensible option of basing a game on Crowe's new movie, American Gangster, for which the publisher has signed a worldwide deal.

The film stars Crowe and Denzel Washington, and is set in the 1970s Harlem underworld. Your job in the game will be to ascend through the criminal ranks, or if you're a good guy, send the crime empire crashing down.

The game has 40 missions spread across both paths, including setting up weapons trades, assassinating enemy bosses, and tracking down a snitch before… well, they don't say what happens, but we assume it's violent.

Anyway, American Gangster is out now in the US, but will hopefully be heading our way when the movie comes out here.
