Following two hugely successful games already released on DS – Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin (both of which reviewed very well) – comes news of a third Castlevania game for the handheld.

Recently speaking to Wired's gaming blog, Game Life, series producer Koji Igarashi said: "We're doing another Nintendo DS version. There hasn't been an official announcement, but we're doing it. First, we want people to enjoy the PSP version, and afterwards we're announcing it. So, please wait a little bit."

The PSP version is the upcoming Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, which is released in Japan on November 8th and due out here this year. The game is a 3D remake of old PC Engine title Rondo of Blood and also includes the original version, as well as the hugely popular Symphony of the Night iteration.

Igarashi talks more in the interview about the PSP game, and about the live-action Castlevania film currently in production. The DS announcement is the big news for us, though, and we'll keep you posted on the title once it's officially announced by publisher Konami.
