Steve Davies dons drag for World Snooker Championship 2007-08 DS

Who said snooker was boring?

Steve Davies dons drag for World Snooker Championship 2007-08 DS

Laugh or cry? We weren't sure which to do when a link to the trailer for Koch Media's upcoming World Snooker Championship Season 2007-08 turned up in our inbox this morning.

The footage spoofs Nintendo's own Brain Training ad campaign – the one with Nicole Kidman lounging around the house in an outfit that matches her white DS, talking to herself like a loon.

Koch basically has snooker legend Steve Davies wearing similar figure-hugging attire and playing a game of snooker. It even features a terrifying 'cameo' from Nicole herself, before ending with Davies complaining he's not even on the box of the game.

We quite like it, actually. Check it out for yourself here:

Koch also released more details and a few new screenshots for the
game, which is due for release shortly on October 26th. It features various real-world snooker players (including Steve, of course), each with unique attributes and skills. Meanwhile, the game's commentary is voiced by snooker old boy, John Virgo. There are nine officially licensed events – including the Welsh Open, Masters and China Open – and an additional Challenge mode involving a series of mini-games. The DS screen shows a 3D image of the action on the top display and a topdown view of the table on the touchscreen. Only yesterday, we checked out one of the game's biggest rivals, pool game 8Ball Allstars, which is shaping up well but isn't released until February 2008.

We'll be reviewing World Snooker Championship in the next couple of weeks. Once you've finished admiring Steve Davies in a blond wig, click 'Track It!' and we'll let you know as soon as the review is up.
