Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker DS gets PAL release date
Beasts to be unleashed in early 2008
Just weeks before its US release – the game is coming out Stateside on November 6th – Square Enix has confirmed Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker will be available in the UK in early 2008.
The DS-exclusive game is the latest in the lengthy Dragon Quest series, and melds the sort of RPG-style exploring seen in Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King, with monster collecting and training.
Playing as a rookie entering a huge monster scout challenge, you must teach your monsters spells and abilities, breed new species, then bung them into the ring to battle it out against rivals' creations.
There are over 200 monsters to collect in total and you'll also be able to challenge friends' monsters wirelessly, as well as compete globally via Wi-Fi in a Wildcard World Cup.
DS is undoubtedly the console to own for Dragon Quest exclusives. At the end of last year, Square announced that Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky, the next instalment in the core series that was previously expected to continue on home consoles PS3 or Wii, would instead be coming out on DS. Currently in development by Level 5, it's expected in Japan in early 2008 and then, hopefully, translated for the west for later in the year.
