Cor. GuitarStar isn't just a game, it's a "highly-versatile promotional platform, providing entertainment and consumer brands with an entirely new mobile medium to promote their products."

In other words, it's a game with adverts in. Developed by AdME, it's a rhythm game that involves catching guitar picks as they fly across the screen, with your movements being synchronised with the beat of the game's soundtrack.

It won an award in Motorola's 2006 CODE: MOTO competition, and has already been launched in the US. So where do the adverts come in?

Well, in the States, record labels have paid to include their new artists in the background of the game, including bands like The Carps, Mankind Is Obsolete, and the Bowling Gnomes. We promise we haven't made any of those up.

Anyway, it sounds intriguing, although there aren't any details yet of who'll be advertising in the UK version, which is due to be distributed by Player X.
