Pimp your ride with... a mobile operator logo?

3 makes star appearance in Juiced 2 mobile game

THQ has signed an innovative marketing deal with operator 3 to have the latter feature in the console versions of Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP and DS.

Basically, it means players are able to create and customise a 3-branded car. "Through this integration, thousands of gamers around the world will potentially see the 3 logo within the Juiced 2 video game," says James Scalpello, THQ Wireless' director of marketing.

It's good news for THQ Wireless, since the deal also means the mobile version of Juiced 2 will be sold prominently on 3's portal. It's possibly good news for 3, too, in terms of raising awareness of its brand among console gamers.

But – without wishing to sound like carping cynics – we wonder how big a deal this is for the actual gamers. If you're playing an urban racer where you get to create your dream car, why would you want a mobile operator logo on the side instead of, say, huge flames, or a rocket, or a scantily-dressed woman?
