Mobile games don't get much flak in the violence/anti-social behaviour debate, mainly because nobody thinks kids are shooting each other with guns as a result of playing Tower Bloxx. Although we wouldn't put it past the Daily Mail to try that argument on a slow news day.

However, nobody's really pushed the 'mobile games are good for your kids' line much. Until now, that is. You see, two of Konami's mobile games have been awarded gold status in the US-based National Parenting Publications Awards.

The games are Frogger 25th (pictured) and Professor Fizzwizzle, which apparently are classed as "innovative, age appropriate, and of exceptional and lasting educational and entertainment value". Thank goodness someone is taking responsibility for teaching our children that frogs get squished flat if they hop in front of oncoming traffic.

Imagine the consequences otherwise…

On a serious note, it's good news for Konami, and it makes us wonder whether more mobile publishers will push the 'family friendly' marketing line in the coming months.

At least, until the first child is injured as a result of trying to parachute into a wobbly tower of crates in the playground, of course.
