Rockstar has announced that after resubmitting a modified version of its controversial creation, Manhunt 2, the American ratings board (ESRB) has granted the game an 'M' classification for all three versions (PSP, PS2, Wii), allowing its sale to individuals of 17 years and older.

The AO (Adults Only) rating Manhunt 2 originally received in June, though not making the game illegal, effectively banned it from being published on Sony and Nintendo consoles due to the manufacturers' policies preventing the publication of AO material on their platforms.

In the UK, Rockstar has appealed the BBFC's initial decision to ban the game from sale by refusing it classification. The hearing is set to take place before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, in the US, Manhunt 2 is now due for release on October 31st.
