Sony has provided further details about its joint venture with Sky, which aims to provide PSP owners in the UK and Ireland with the ability to watch video on demand and on the move.

The service will launch in early 2008 as part of the Go! family (Go!Messenger, Go!Explore and Go!Cam) and represents the first official PSP video download service in Europe.

The service promises to launch with a substantial selection of entertainment, mixing Sky content such as sports, entertainment, films, music and animation. This includes high-profile sporting events and the latest premier films which are normally only available to Sky subscribers – here they'll be offered on a pay-per-view basis (actual costs are yet to be revealed).

In addition, Sky plans to work with third-party channels and content owners to create a more diverse and comprehensive service.

You'll be able to download your choice of programmes either through your PC or directly to the PSP via Wi-Fi. Sky promises to incorporate a user interface specifically tailored to Sony's handheld.

Make sure you don't miss out on Sony's other GC PSP announcements: Go!Messenger, Go!Explore and PSP Slim and Lite European release details.
