Medal of Honor Airborne set for mobile take-off

Military action games are rife on console: you can't swing a bayonet without hitting 17 gritty WWII titles. But they're also invading mobile, with several coming out in the last year, including EA Mobile's so-so Medal of Honor.

Well, now the sequel is gearing up for its own sortie and it looks like it's worth getting excited about. It's called Medal of Honor Airborne, and despite the name it still involves lots of ground-based running about and shooting.

However, the big news is that the game has a swish new 3D engine (compared to its 2D platform-based predecessor) hoping to create the intense atmosphere of combat. You can expect to pick up dynamite and grenades along the way to boost your firepower, as well as engage in a respectable amount of crouching behind sandbags.

We've got hands on with a preview version, and it's looking very smooth indeed, with simple controls and nail-biting gameplay.

Medal of Honor Airborne is due out later this month, so click 'Track It!' for a despatch when we get our hands on the final version.
