First screens of Call of Duty 4 DS

It was only the end of last week that Activision announced its debut DS first-person shooter in the shape of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Now it's backed up that move by releasing the initial batch of screenshots to everyone.

The screens show the two main elements of the game. The first is the typical infantry viewpoint, where you fight alongside your fellow SAS troopers or Marine grunts (depending on your choice of nationality) and get to strafe and shoot your Heckler & Kock MP5, while moving in and out of cover.

Perhaps more in keeping with the technical limitations of 3D on DS, however, the other part of the game sees you acting as the gunner for various vehicles, such as a Humvee and a Blackhawk helicopter. We assume these parts will feature on-rails gameplay, similar to that most recently highlighted in Eidos' zombie shooter, Touch The Dead

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is due to be released sometime this Autumn.
