Back when we were young, the phrase 'I did it mum!' generally involved us having to admit to the fact that we had done something unmentionable – either losing control of our bowels, or cutting our sister's left pigtail off (again).

In these more enlightened times, however, the cry of affirmation appears to have changed its emphasis. Instead, said small person is probably now looking for parental congratulations for the good deeds they have done – maybe working out the first prime number greater than 100, or speaking their first sentence in Italian.

And that's certainly the aspirational market 505 Games is looking to target with its new bundle of joy.

Available in both Boy and Girl editions – toy trains and driving a car in one, and colouring animals and cooking in the other (they don't allow that sort of gender split in Rudolf Steiner schools you know) – I Did It Mum! will consists of various mini-games that are said to be 'inspired by classic pre-school books and games'.

One additional touch is the voice recording option, so parents can provide their own message of encouragement when a game is completed

I Did It Mum! is due to be released in November. It will cost around £20.
