Free Killzone: Liberation pack released for PSP

The thing about a game like Killzone: Liberation is you know exactly what you're getting. The title says it all – it's going to involve soldiers, it's going to involve guns, and most importantly it is going to involve lots and lots of killing.

But just when you thought you had squeezed all such action out of your Killzone: Liberation UMD, along comes a gargantuan 80MB update for the game, which is set to give you much more than you bargained for. Best of all, it's free.

Granted, the update still features lots of soldiers, lots of guns and lots of killing, but it really is no pipsqueak in the downloadable content stakes.

There are four new missions, adding up to around two hours of extra gameplay. Continuing on from where the storyline left off at the end of full-price game, these missions take place on all-new terrain and they incorporate some unfamiliar vehicles, too.

There's even a reward for completing these additional single-player missions – you're hooked up with the official Killzone site to get your bloody hands on yet more downloadable goodies.

Not that the new pack is just about the new single-player missions, mind. The kind folks at Guerrilla have also thrown in a couple of new multiplayer maps, Prison and Construction Site, each playable in both infrastructure and ad hoc modes. And to cap off an already generous package, there is also a new multiplayer game type (infrastructure only) called Duel Mode 1vs1 – basically a two-player face-off on miniature maps.

New levels, vehicles, modes, all free – this is how downloadable content should be done. It's available now, and if any of you get a chance to play it, please do pop a post in our new forum to let others know what you think.
