LEGO Star Wars II DS gets a second attempt
If at first you don't succeed...
Like the Marie Celeste or John Prescott's animal magnetism, the DS version of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is a complete mystery. How could what was such a good game on all the other consoles be so bad on the DS, especially when it was developed by the generally top notch studio Amaze?
We still don't know the answer, but at least we'll be able to play the game as it was originally intended, thanks to the news that TT Games will be completely remaking the game ('Developed brick by brick from the ground up', we're assured) in the guise of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
New characters and environments from all of the six blockbuster movies will be added, and a new touchscreen control method is also on the cards.
The original version – which featured in our list of the 10 worst DS games ever – scored 2/10, the lowest mark ever given on Pocket Gamer, although it did provide our reviewer Michael French with plenty of material to excite his spleen. "About as coherent as Yoda on crack," was one memorable finding.
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is due to try and put things right in Spring 2008.
