Traditionally, summer is supposed to be a quiet time for the games industry as everyone forgets the cares of work and indoor living in order to frolic gently in the sunshine.

However, the sheer temptation of 40 million DSs that can be carried on vacation seems to have persuaded publishers to cancel their developers' leave, as the forthcoming release schedule from Nintendo of America makes plain.

The majority of the games have a somewhat casual and/or kid-friendly feel to them, although the occasional significant release – we'd point to SimCity, Heroes of Mana, Worms and Phoenix Wright – also makes its presence felt.

As for how many of these games will eventually cross the pond, we'll have to just wait and see.
