Soon, there won't be any gameshows left that haven't already been turned into a mobile game. Well, apart from that one presented by a naked-yet-enthusiastic Keith Chegwin, of course. And even that will probably end up tempting an unwise publisher into reaching for their cheque book.

Deal Or No Deal has been shifting downloads like hot cakes this year, so it's no surprise to see mobile game publishers looking for the next big gameshow hit on phones.

Could it be The Crystal Maze? On the one hand, the omens aren't good – it's not exactly high-profile these days, despite getting regular repeats on digital TV channels.

But on the other, its format is rather suited to gaming, consisting as it did of a bunch of mini-tasks grouped into Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic categories.

Scottish developer Dynamo Games has snapped up the rights, and is planning to release the official mobile game by the end of this year. The company is aiming to capture the puzzles and humour of the show in its game. Having done a great job with the Championship Manager mobile games, we wouldn't bet against Dynamo doing The Crystal Maze justice, too.
