Phoenix Wright's back in the dock with DS's Trials and Tribulations

Five new cases bring justice dangerously close to home

Phoenix Wright's back in the dock with DS's Trials and Tribulations

After two successful touchscreen outings, Phoenix Wright is easily the most famous lawyer in gaming. But while his previous cases have seen the young legal eagle solving the murders of circus ringmasters and action movie stars, the third bundle of courtroom dramas – Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations – will find our hero placed on the scales of justice himself, as one of the game's five cases revisits the mysterious death of one of his university chums.

Indeed, the entire game is something of a personal turn for the worst for Phoenix; he rub shoulders with a psychotic ex-girlfriend, a doppleganger and plenty of old rivals. Another interesting development is the introduction of the chain-coffee-drinking prosecuting lawyer Godot who, for some reason, is out to take Phoenix down.

Of course, the whole wacky tale is packaged within an investigative framework that will have you checking out crime scenes, collecting evidence, overcoming the inconsistencies of witnesses and generally making sure the bad guys get caught out in the end. The 'Psyche-Lock' feature from Ace Attorney Justice for All, where you have to breakthrough the lies of the people you're interrogating, will also make a re-appearance.

With his head buried in case notes, don't expect Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations to make the High Court (or high street) until the autumn.
