One trend you'll be hearing more about in 2007 and beyond is the boundaries blurring between mobile games and the kind of Web 2.0 developments that have been making waves online in the last year.

An early pointer is Dobo, a new 'entertainment application' from Chinese firm Tangram Innovations. Initially for Symbian phones, it's an application that lets you download casual games and play them against other people over the network, and also to chat, download ringtones and eBooks, and send text messages.

The application is being released in China first, and will be free to users, with the revenues coming from advertising that'll be inserted into your activities – hopefully in as non-intrusive a manner as possible.

While the multiplayer games will be the main appeal for Pocket Gamer readers, the social networking and content download features around them could make Dobo truly interesting.

Enough about China though – when can we expect this sort of thing to come out in the UK? We asked Tangram, and they said they plan to bring Dobo out here once it's been released over there, so we'll keep you posted.
