Publishers prime their 2007 Euro DS releases

January's quiet but things get busy by February

Considering the amount of fury that's unleashed every morning when the 8.13 from Orpington is late by three minutes (three minutes!), gamemakers should be very thankful about the understanding nature of their audience when it comes to missed release dates.

But with the start of 2007 almost upon us, it's time for Europe's DS publishers to brace themselves against the outrageous slings and arrows of fortune and announce their planned spring releases.

Of course, some seemingly just refuse to take the exercise seriously. Will 505 Games really release six games in January, or did the sales manager just scribble something down quick before legging it off to the company's crimbo knees up?

A similar ethos seems to practised at Konami, which has dumped all its five planned releases – including highly-anticipated titles such as Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Lunar Knights (pictured) – into February.

As for other game highlights, hopefully it will be worth keeping your eyes peeled for the January appearance of the heavymetal warfare of Mech Assault Phantom War and the pinball madness of Flipper Critters.

As well as Konami's fare, February also promises quirky puzzler Gunpey and another version of that explosive maze dweller Bomberman. And March is looking mighty fine thanks to the presence of creature battler Spectrobes, Rayman Raving Rabbids, strategy game The Settlers and movie tie-in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Two other games worth looking out for – a DS version of Theme Park and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice For All – should be released at some point within the next three months, too.
