Will army of 500 be enough to take on the revitalised Pokemon?

When we rounded up a herd of what we expected would be the hottest holiday DS games, there were some titles on whose appearance in 2006 we would have bet our annual kiss with Miss Moneypenny in the finance department. How cruely we would have been served by Konami's Pro Evolution DS, which slipped like a wet eel into January.

There were others games that we dreamed of rather than expected though; much like our attitude with the boss' PA.

So, hopefully proving that good things come to those who wait is Spectrobes. Our initial hands on experience with the game back in May was certainly impressive, and it seems that publisher Buena Vista is making doubly sure everything is in place before unleashing its 500 monster-strong collection, training and evolution game.

This makes sense though, considering not only is it the company's first game not based on a film licence, but with a global March release, it will also be competing with Pokemons Pearl and Diamond, which have already sold millions in Japan.

And hence, the game's website is already filling up with information and you can download the third of the planned six Spectrobe's 'wepisode' cartoon trailers by hitting our Watch It! button. A large download at around 50 MB, it introduces main characters Rallen and Jeena, and chronicles their first experiences with the combat power of the Spectrobes.

Go get'em.
