How to find and buy games on the T-Mobile portal

T-Mobile is famous for its Web'n'Walk tariff, which gives you unlimited access to the mobile internet for £7.50 a month as opposed to you paying through the nose by running up data charges. However the operator still has its own T-Zones portal too, and games are a major ingredient. Here's how to find them, and where to bag the best titles on T-Zones.

Start by accessing the T-Zones portal. On many handsets, it'll be set up as one of the softkeys under your handset's screen, giving you one-click access. If not, you'll need to go to your phone's Services or Web function and click on the T-Zones link. You'll land on the T-Zones homepage. To get to the games section of the portal, scroll down and click the Games link. Simple, huh? You'll be taken straight to the games homepage. How to find games on T-Mobile 01

Let's start by checking out T-Mobile's Top 10 games, a chart that's refreshed once a week and contains the best-selling titles. Scroll down to the Top 10 Games text and click on its Go link to be taken to the Top 10 page. Here you're presented with a list of games, each with its own small image. Click on one you're interested in, and you'll be taken to its page, telling you how much it costs, and its size in KB (this is important if you're not on the Web'n'Walk tariff and thus pay data charges). Scroll down to the Get More Details link to find out more and see a few screenshots. If you want to buy it, click on the Buy This Game Now link, and follow the instructions to save it onto your phone. How to find games on T-Mobile 02

Every Tuesday, T-Mobile uploads some new games onto its portal, so it's worth checking back on a weekly basis to see what's new. Go back to the games homepage (there's usually a link to this at the bottom of every page on the games section of the portal), scroll down to the What's New text, and click on its Go link. You'll see a list of all the most recently-added games. This week's batch will be marked with New! at the start of their names. For example, on our handset this week T-Mobile has just added Casino Royale, Pirates Of The Carribbean 2 and Pro Golf 2007. Click on a game to find out more information, or follow the process in Step 2 to buy it. How to find games on T-Mobile 03

If you know what kind of game you're after you can browse by genre. Go back to the main Games homepage, and scroll down to the Games By Type text, and click on its Go link. You'll see a list of genres, including Arcade Classics, Puzzle, Casino Games, Action & Fighters, Sports, Football, Racing and Lifestyle. Click on a genre for a list of its games, and then follow the process in Step 2 to buy one you want. You can also search by publisher, for example if you've read a review on Pocket Gamer and know who published a game. Go back to the Games homepage, scroll down to Games By Publisher and click on its Go link. All the big companies are represented. How to find games on T-Mobile 04

Every operator portal worth its salt has a bargain section, where you can pick up some slightly older mobile games for the price of a pint. T-Zones is no different. Go back to the main Games homepage, and scroll down to Special Offers, and click on its Go link. There's a range of games reduced to £3, including FIFA 2006, Doom RPG and… weirdly, a whole bunch of EA games, actually. There's also a Pay Per Play section, which charges you 50p to download a game then 50p every time you play it, or £1 for three plays. Finally, you can bag some Try Before You Buy demos to test games before shelling out for them. On our handset, there are two demos, for 24 and Jewel Quest. How to find games on T-Mobile 05

Finally, if you're a risk-taker T-Mobile has a few games that enable you to try and trouser some cool stuff. Go back to the main Games homepage, scroll down to PrizePlay and click on its Go link to see a range of games that you can play to win, yes, prizes. Meanwhile, Cash Casino offers real-money gambling, including poker and various casino titles. Each game has its own rules and pricing policy, so make sure you read the instructions carefully before gambling away your life savings!
