My Little Dogs comes to mobile

Well, not MY little dogs, exactly. It's just the name of the game. My dogs are too big to fit on a mobile anyway. Get away from them!

My Little Dogs comes to mobile

The craze for having some of the joys of owning a pet without the smell shows no sign of abating, at least not among games publishers.

Living Mobile's My Little Dogs is the latest virtual pooch title to join the pack led by Nintendogs on the DS; on mobile it faces a bark-off with I-play's My Dog and Gameloft's upcoming Dogz.

My Little Dogs arrives in two breeds, a 2D version for lower-end handsets and a 3D version for a better class of owner. According to the press release: 'The dog can be cuddled and fondled in two or three dimensions.' Not necessarily something you'd want to be accused of by your local constabulary.

Dog-bothering aside, My Little Dogs looks to offer just what you'd expect: your brown or grey dog can learn tricks and be taken for walks, but you have to keep him well fed if you want to see him perform.

Interestingly, 0.25€ for each game sold will be donated to different country's animal welfare organizations. In France the money will go to Sociètè Protectice des Animaux (SPA), in Spain to Elrefugio, in Portugal to Animaisdaquinta, and so on.

It's a nice gesture, though our initial thought is the poor pretend dog in the game might need some extra welfare itself, being condemned to live in a lurid pink and green environment and looking not unlike the sort of violent hallucination you'd imagine ingesting truly noxious substances derived from South American vines might produce.

But we'll reserve judgement for our review.
