Follow our guide to store and read tens of thousands of e-books for free on your PSP. It's not exactly what you bought your expensive new console for but, heck, why not? It'll make you smarter than any brain-training game.


Set up wireless networking using Pocket Gamer's helpful guide. Scroll all the way to the right on the PSP's home screen to select Network, scroll down to Internet Browser and press 'X'.

When the browser has loaded press 'up' on your PSP to select the address bar. Then press 'X' to jump to the text entry screen. Go to http://psp.manybooks.net/ How to read books on your PSP pic 2

Select Categories then the category you're interested in from the page you're taken to. We chose Adventure because we want to confound people who call us boring for enjoying books. Choose the book you want from the list. How to read books on your PSP pic 3

When the book's page has loaded, press 'triangle' on the green arrow icon. Select the icon on the bottom, all the way to the left, and press 'X'. Scroll down to Save Link Target and press 'X' again. Wait while the file downloads. When it's finished you can disconnect from the wireless network if you want to save battery power (books can take some time to complete). To view your book press 'triangle' then 'up'. Press 'X' to jump to the text entry screen and key in file:/psp/common/[filename].html changing [filename] for whatever you chose to save your book as.

Read and be educated. We find it easier to scroll round the document using the D-pad but you can do it by holding 'square' and using the analogue nub if you want to. That way it's a bit more like a game. Check out our other PSP How Tos. How to read books on your PSP pic 6
