New GTA: Vice City Stories shots dug up

It's a sordid business, but somebody's got to do it

New GTA: Vice City Stories shots dug up

Those of you eagerly waiting to step into the shoes of Vic Vance for the latest Grand Theft Auto adventure might want to take a sneak peak at this dossier of new in-game pictures (kudos to the guys at GTA Vice for these).

The images not only underline Rockstar's declaration that the latest outing will be the most visually appealing yet (check out those lighting effects), but also hint at the type of gameplay involved (choppers and water sports look set to feature highly!)

As well as the snapshots, we've got some more info on the back story, which looks set to see a rags-to-riches transformation as the Vance brothers depart (or are forced from) their trailer park origins and rise through the criminal ranks.

Some big business interests look set to play a part too, in the form of a major corporation whose approach to the urban regeneration of Vice City isn't exactly marked by community consultation. Suffice to say the two themes are unlikely to be unconnected.

We've also a little more information about the sort of missions you'll be faced with in the game, and variety is clearly the watchword. The opener sees you pulling off a series of water-based stunts (and swimming) in order to create a commercial, without a hint of gunplay. Fortunately the second will more than make up for this as you're tasked with flying a chopper whilst your brother Lance picks off the bikers who stole your cocaine.

Finally, it appears increasingly certain that the PSP will remain the only place you can play the game, with the developer turning its attention to GTA 4 on the upcoming PS3 console.

With around two months left before GTA: Vice City Stories' release, you can expect a fair bit more information to come to light before our review. Select 'Track It!' to ensure you don't miss out.
