Tomb Raider's mobile gamble
Lara Croft gets a gambling habit
It's probably safe to bring out a Lara Croft gambling game, given that most of her fans have grown up past the age of 18. In fact, the most fanatical of them are in their mid-thirties and probably still living with their mums, but you get my point.
Yes, Lara has taken a sabbatical from her usual adventuring in order to launch her own real-money mobile gambling title. Well, sort of.
Mobile gambling service Wild Jack Mobile Casino has launched a branded five-reel Lara Croft slot machine, complete with golden idols, exotic tigers and hidden icons which open up a Tomb bonus screen.
To get the game, you have to text WJMC to the shortcode 89895.
"We are convinced that this first big brand from WJMC will provide all the excitement and fun you'd associate with a leading title," reckons Simon Swanson, UK country manager for Wild Jack, which says it's committed to preventing under-age gamers from frittering away their pocket money on the service.
Don't be surprised if the tabloids jump on this story tomorrow though. The blend of proper gambling, video game characters and mobile phones may send their rage-o-meters through the roof.
