No, it's not George Bush's latest foreign policy initiative – Empire Earth is actually a rather intriguing conversion of a classic PC franchise.

One of the most ambitious of six new releases announced by VUG Mobile, Empire Earth brings together eight missions of in-depth strategy and resource management, spanning no less than 2,000 years. (Just enough gameplay to get you through a bank holiday traffic jam, then.)

Cast as leader of a civilisation, your task is to use your military strength to remove all opposition across four different ages, taking your people from the Stone Age to the high-tech future.

As you might expect, each age brings unique units into play, and particular challenges to overcome. Your early forces, for instance, might be distracted by developing the wheel, whilst latter ages may well have reality TV to cope with. And just in case the different time zones, in-depth combat system and strategic resource management isn't enough to keep you busy, there'll also be skirmish and turn-based multiplayer modes on offer.

If you fancy conquering the world on your way to work, you'd better stay tuned for our review. (Hit 'Track It!' above, and we'll tell you when we've prevailed).
