Rockford returns, stony-faced, in this diamond-grabbing sequel

Like the plot of so many good movies, it’s often the simplest ideas that work best. It’s a theory that I-Play and First Star Software believe in, having teamed up to release Boulder Dash M.E. 2 in the first half of 2006. Following the runaway success of the first game, released as long ago as 2003, you play as Rockford, miner extraordinaire, on his quest to retrieve as many diamonds from a cave as he can. This involves digging through the earth, making sure to avoid rock falls, and finding the hidden exit, all against a strict time limit. Boulders often present a puzzle, blocking access to areas of the cave and they must be pushed or removed by digging through the earth underneath them, causing them to drop.

New, improved visuals and an expanded range of tools are now at Rockford’s disposal, which should make life easier for the itinerant miner. He can now kick things, smash troublesome boulders with a hammer, and even blow stuff up with explosives (behaving every inch the typical man, then)!
