Great news for fans of sticky things. Japanese game-makers Namco have today officially announced that their award-winning Katamari will be rolling PSP-ward next year in the shape of Me & My Katamari.

For those of you that have managed to avoid the Katamari phenomenon to date, the premise is pretty simple. The King of All Cosmos has give his son (that's you) a special sticky ball (the katamari) and challenged him with collecting a variety of increasingly chunky objects by rolling the ball around the world and...well, sticking to them.

Sounds a bit mad? Well, it is, but as fans of the first 2 games from PlayStation 2 will know it's also incredibly fun and addictive.

For its first pocket-sized outing, Namco have devised a suitably bonkers new premise (essentially you need to create islands out of stuff to house a community of homeless animals), a fancy new island-themed interface, hundreds of new objects and the biggest, most customisable collection of playable characters yet witnessed (the Prince and numerous regal cousins can now wear up to three accessories). The controls have been tweaked, too, for the move to their new home (although we're assured they'll still be simple and intuitive) but the most exciting addition has to be the 4-player wireless mode, which gives you the opportunity to smash your sticky balls against your nearest and dearest.

Our palms are already moistening with anticipation (sufficiently so to pick up papers, but not yet laptops) so be sure to stick around for a preview soon.
