Delta Force: Hawk Ops, a brand new entry into the classic FPS franchise, revealed after over 10 years

The ancient and long quiet series Delta Force, which originally launched way back in 1998, is coming back at last, and this time it’s looking to expand onto our modern mobile devices. Under the title Delta Force: Hawk Ops, the series is seeking to remake itself and become akin to more recent FPS series like Call of Duty or Rainbow Six.

Delta Force is one of the original FPS games, especially when it comes to military simulation games. Released way back in 1998, the game was a PC exclusive at the time and later saw a few spin-offs and different sequels and the like. The most recent addition to the series was way back in 2009, so this return to the franchise has been a long time coming.

Hawk Ops is going to feature a single-player and multiplayer mode, with the single-player mode hoping to encapsulate the cinematic feel of different military movies. It’s unclear exactly what all of this will entail as of yet, as the game itself is still in the earlier stages, so we’ll have to wait and see if it does indeed capture that essence.

Multiplayer on the other hand is likely to be a far more traditional FPS multiplayer experience. I imagine we can expect different game modes, a variety of maps, different weapons, and the usual type of stuff that you can find in FPS PVP games. It’s got plenty of inspiration to take from, given how huge FPS games are lately, so hopefully it’ll end up one of the success stories even on mobile.

For now, that’s about all the information we have on this one. It’s pretty clear that it’s still early in development, and there’s no word on a release window, so we’ll all just have to stay tuned and wait for more news as the theoretical release date gets closer.
