Respawnables Heroes, Digital Legends' promising hero shooter, has now soft-launched

Digital Legends' follow-up to its hit shooter Respawnables has now soft-launched in the Philippines. Respawnables Heroes, as it's known, is a fast-paced, colourful hero shooter in the vein of Blizzard's Overwatch.

It aims to be a "genre-defining" third-person action game built from the ground up for mobile devices, and it's said to offer all the adrenaline of a team-based hero shooter in a bitesized, mobile-friendly package.

You'll pick from a diverse pool of high-energy heroes, before teaming up with other players for tactical and intense 4v4 multiplayer matches. All heroes have their own unique set of abilities, opening up totally different combat and traversal opportunities for every player on the battlefield.

They each favour a particular fighting style, and so part of the challenge stems from creating a balanced team that can work together effectively. Invasion, the game's first mode, was designed specifically to reward smart co-operation between players, allowing for powerful synergies and impressive interactions.

Digital Legends is committed to building upon the solid foundations laid in the soft-launch version. You can expect new modes, playable heroes, and maps in future. The team is also looking to work alongside the game's community to make it the best it can be.

The elephant in the room is that Respawnables Heroes looks an awful lot like Overwatch, from its core gameplay to its visual style and effects. In many ways, it also reminds me of Tencent's Ace Force, which we first covered back in July of last year.

Throughout the years, the various members of PG have seemingly always been big fans of the original Respawnables, with our review from back in 2013 praising it for being polished, enjoyable, and stylish, before awarding it a Silver Rating.

There's currently no word on when we can expect to see Respawnables Heroes head westward, but I imagine it can't be too far off. Players in the Philippines can get involved right now with the game's soft-launch.
